Drury brought in 4 players ( Copp, Vatrano, Motte & Braun ) , who have been instrumental in the Rangers success in the playoffs series against Pittsburgh & Carolina … two well coached , talented and successful playoff teams .
Drury will have his hands full trying to determine who he will keep on next years roster because of salary cap constraints …

Seems to me , that Motte is a very valuable multi talented player.
He is a fast, tough , defensive minded , forechecking type player , who is a 4th line upgrade and is easily capable of playing on the 3rd line with Chytil and LaFreniere , who are both signed to 2022/3 contracts .
I expect Motte will become one of the fourth line starters next year , probably on the 4th line with Goodrow & Reeves .
Hunt and Brodzinski are also signed to 2022/3 contracts already !
It looks like Rooney may be the odd player out … too bad .. I thought he fit well with Goodrow and Reeves line …
The only reason why Rooney may not be replaced is that the Rangers love Rooneys passionate style of play . He has also worn the “A “ on his sweater a couple of times this season, and lastly , he might potentially play for less money to remain with the Rangers ? This is a very tough choice … Both represent the Rangers very well. …. Either or both would be good choices … LGR!
