  1. They're quietly good. I don't think they go deep but against this weak division 2nd round isn't unlikely

  2. I hope Veini plays for Columbus, maybe even before Tarasov. He did well for his first year in Cleveland, with a few more years he can definitely be NHL caliber.

  3. I think CBJ is going to be an under the radar team that makes noise this year.

  4. Jarmo and Torts work well togteher and between the two of them they could add a superb UFA. I believe both Seth Jones and Zach Werenski who each played 60 plus minutes in the the 5 overtime game against Tampa are rock solid. If Korpisalo, Merzlikins and Kivlenieks play well between the pipes may make the Blue Jackets the envy of the NHL when it comes to goaltenders. Hoping for a breakout season this go round.

  5. Mackinnon didn't do it without Rantanen, but I like Foudy – and i had wished Otts picked up JL Foudy at draft time but Colorado got him and Calg's got Kuznetsov.

  6. This is how the Central will finnish:

    1) Tampa
    2) Carolina
    3) Chicago
    4 Columbus
    5) Florida
    6) Nashville
    7) Dallas
    8) Detroit

  7. Glad to see this team have some sustained success, keep it going CBJ CBJ

  8. A very fair assessment. The Jackets do have cap space to play with and if they do sign one of the remaining UFA's, I'd think it would be Granlund. While many would like Hoffman, he just doesn't play a 200 foot game that Tortorella wants from his players and I think that would prevent them from signing him. Having said that, I think Jarmo is sitting back waiting for a player to fall into his lap that no one thought would be available when teams have to become salary cap compliant. No one saw it coming when they traded for Seth Jones, and I think they'll pull off a similar trade before opening night. I think some of the other teams that are sitting back with money are applying a similar strategy. There may well be a better player available through trade than what is left on the free agent market.

  9. CBJ is gonna shock the central this year. last year playing half an AHL roster most of the year still got it done.

  10. When it comes to Seth Jones. Hes an absolute beast. And he EATS minutes.
I dont get how anyone can say hes a bad Defenseman.
Advanced stats are much kinder to those who play 14 minutes a night, then they are to those who play 30.

  11. Don't feel badly about stopping words early. One time I decided to shorten condominium into condo mid thought and just called it a condom, so that was fun.

  12. Hi Shannon long time since I’ve watched..sorry I had to take a “month sabbatical” from life …ok I’m back…let’s go CBJ

  13. I’m excited about CBJs season …we solid everywhere…I personally think the “unforeseen star” emerging this years going to Vlady Gavrikov …the dudes a stud, he’s talented as hell and more importantly- He’s Hungry …

  14. Shannon , get over your old school mentality….they don’t need a superstar. I’ll take a cohesive single minded team, with great goaltending Everyday over having a superstar…fuck the leafs

  15. I would put Marchenko as the next big hype, the kid is tearing up the KHL, and is looking like the top line winger the Jackets need, but hey, that’s just me I guess.

  16. they’re probably planning on having tarasov as the starter in 2022. elvis and korpi’s contracts both expire after 2021-22. i think we can finish second in the central, go jackets

  17. I don’t know why but I’ve always wanted the jackets to do good. I’m a devils fan but they’re a fun team to watch.

  18. How do you think bjorkstrand will do this year? Was on pace to lead the team in scoring before his injury…

  19. Dubois is still only 22 , he's accomplishing more at that age then Johanson, I see him as this two way forward. Obviously Torts is molding him into an all around player.

  20. I liked a lot of what you said here and I think you're spot on about their record against their new division.

I think their sleepers this year are Bemstrom and Grigorenko. Tortorella intimated in a recent interview that the team is very high on those two and he's going to try to make sure they're put in positions to succeed. Both have had some recent success overseas, if it translates they could be huge contributors for the team.

On the other side, I kind of expect Merzlikins to regress a little bit. Sort of like Binnington. It's his sophomore season, so it'll be a proving ground now that his opponents have a book on him.

As for their tandem overall, what you said about actually getting them to buy in is key. And that's why I go against the grain and say they may trade Elvis instead of Korpisalo. Elvis has said that he doesn't want to play tandem in several interviews. But Columbus is a goalie factory and I don't see a time where Elvis wouldn't be part of a tandem while with the Blue Jackets. Plus there's the cap issue. Based on his recent contract that he got after just one season, he seems like he'll want a $7m+ AAV on his next contract. I can't see Columbus fitting that in when they're likely going to be paying $40m combined AAV for Dubois, Jones, Werenski, Bjorkstrand, and Domi in two years.

  21. If the NHL has a true "underdog franchise", it's Columbus; shows tons of promise, but one way or another never seems to be able to translate it into long-term success. Will this change with the new format? We'll see.

  22. 👋 From 🗽 i ❤️ CBJ, i cheer for them alot. ❤️ Torts! ❤️ Foligno and Foody real deal, i expect Dubois to have an awesome season. ❤️🎄🏒

  23. Oh my god i am so ready for hockey to be back. The Browns are giving me an ulcer.

  24. They also are due for a season with minimal injuries. This franchise has a history of injury. I believe they set the record for most man hours lost in 2 of the last 5 seasons (Murray being the poster child for that). Collectively, they need Bemstrom, Texier, Foudy, Robinson, Peeke to raise their game to the next level while the vets keep doing what they're doing. There are no superstars in Columbus. And of course, the goaltending needs to remain steady. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but up to this point, they still lose too many games they shouldn't.
