  1. BIZ thinks GMS are lined up for Dubas lol maybe your yotes would hire him. There's a team that he could be considered hall of fame to just get in the first round.

  2. by 2024 Arizona will have a handful up coming players, cap space, and most likely a year from the new arena being completed. It will take a lot more than a year at a temporary arena for Matthews to say no. I say this with what we know, but time still needs to pass by before we can say if he is going to AZ, LA, SJ ,or he stays. We all think we know what is going to happen, but the truth is even Auston doesn't know what he is going to do yet.

  3. Take a pill. No one, except Matthews & his closest friends have a clue as to what he wants to do. It's simple. Play the season & see how it shakes out. Regardless of what happens, if by July 1, 2023 (the 1st moment you can do an extension) Matthews has not agreed to extend, then you deal him so you don't get screwed like Calgary did with Gaudreau, then Tkachuk. At least Tkachuk had the courtesy to tell Treliving he wouldn't re-sign. Dubas has structured all the Leaf deals so that the only players under contract for 24/25 are Rielly & Jarnkrok. That means, if you're Dubas, or anyone else, they're not saddled with long term deals that would stymie a re-build. NB, I agree with BizNasty that the smart move after the tight Tampa loss, is to run it back again. Darren McCarty agreed. He believes the Leafs have evolved, that they went down fighting, had no quit & have now grasped what is required to win in the post-season. I hope they're right. Many elite teams fail repeatedly before they win championships.

  4. You guys and hockey media going to milk this for clicks for a while… dudes not leaving lol. McDaViD iS CoMinG HoMe

  5. Honestly, and I say this as a Leafs fan, Matthews and Marner have yet to prove themselves in the playoffs. They haven't carried their team to a win like Sid and Geno did for the Pens, Kane and Toews did for Chicago and obviously most recently Mackinnon and Makar for the Avs. They're excellent players but until they take that next step in the post-season, a 1st round exit is inevitable.

  6. I thought these guys were plan talkers! I'm tired of everyone pussyfooting out on the Leafs! These guys know whats wrong with the Leafs franchise, they talk to almost every player and ex-player in the NHL. They all tell these guys what really wrong with this organization, why won't you guys at Spittin' Chiclets tell us the real story? You know, the stories you get from all the players that played for this GARBAGE organization! Man up and tell the truth!!

  7. If Matthews leaves it’s pretty much guareented to get McDavid

  8. Matthews in Arizona will be great! He’ll be a perfect fit for the new arena and to finally spark that franchise. It’s happening leaf nation get ready for it.

  9. Why would matthews want to stay in Toronto? Cold weather, media circus and the annual playoff choke with fans threatening to kick your ass. Matthews and Marner are already spending the summers in Arizona training and soaking up the life there. Those two could do some serious damage in Yotes uniforms. Oh and matthews playing in Tempe with all those college chicks DMing him hourly?!?!?! It’s only a matter of time before he’s there living the dream life.

  10. So many crazy takes here. The leafs structure their contracts in a manner that 95% of the money is signing bonus. Which is not taxable in Ontario. Toronto is the mecca for hockey. Any argument against that is purely emotional and not factual. Name the last free agent Toronto made an offer to keep that left? There isn't one. First class organization off the ice. Being treated like a god in a market where hockey is king or scoring five goals and going to a restaurant after the game and the server asking for i.d.? Easy choice. Non-leaf fans want him to leave but should be more worried about McDavid going home in four years to play with Matthews in blue and white.

  11. he needs to leave Toronto yes. Need to play with the Russian machine Kaprizov

  12. Byfield, Clarke, Turcotte, and 3 first round picks or Chychrun, Cooley, Guenther, and 3 first round picks take your pick

  13. San Jose Sharks are cursed because of the Karlsson deal! Would’ve been sick to see Matthews in a Sharks uniform! Lol

  14. He's obviously gonna stay. Leafs have never lost player in that fashion.

Using garbage Canadian markets as comparables is irrelevant.

  15. Let him go he a soyboy anyway
Get some hard nose Canadian players that can play bigboy hockey come playoff time.

  16. if he leaves which i think he stays, McDAVID will sign in Toronto when his contract is up, so it really dosent matter what happens, it's 2 years away.

  17. 4 months at home – 4 months in the city that drafted you – 4 months in planes and motels gettin' banged by random beauties all across America. Who cares about the crest on your chest.

  18. Imagine if Matthews goes into next season telling the media that he only wants to re-sign in Toronto, TDL passes then he hits the market just like Tavares…..

    Now that is comical karma.
