I remember the legion of doom, talk about a scary line. Philly had some tough teams in that era, hoping oneday they get back to being a power house, fantastic hockey market!
Dump with no chase. We are currently playing a defensive style without a top defensive pair. Hextall had horrible drafts and we now feel it and lack depth

Honestly it feels like now might be the best time to embrace a rebuild. You have Joel Farabee, Travis Konecny, Carter Hart, Ivan Provorov, Cam York, and Morgan Frost already in the pipeline. You have Couturier and Adkinson to lead the charge as the vets, but now is a time to decide what to do with who.
Giroux should net you at least a first a prospect, especially if you dangle him (HA) in front of a team who have a hard time bringing in big name free agents.
JVR? Hayes? Yeah those deals don’t look great, but given the market value I don’t buy the idea that nobody would at least look at Hayes.
You just got Risto but if you aren’t resigning him that’s another big rental piece you can dangle for a team who needs a top four defenseman (like say currently The Islanders).
Biggest change at least to me is coaching, either go out and grab Torts or attempt to sign Trotz if Lou lets him go for their poor season. Get you someone who will get the most out of those two way players you have. Another possible option is Max Domi, maybe you don’t want him and Adkinson around Torts but Max has that bite to his game that would really help Philly. Outside of that The Broad Street Bullies may just have to accept the fact to get the bruiser they want they’re gonna have to let Konecny or York or Farabee go.
Philadelphia much like Nashville cannot afford to be soft. The year Nashville went to the finals they had McLeod and Watson in double digit fights. I am not saying goon it up, but you are perfectly capable of finding the right guys to give you that edge.

2nd thing. Their Keys to the Cup. Remember, back in the late 90's L.O.D. era, how the speed of the Redwings MOYDUHLYZED the Flyers? The Flyers had BIG defencemen, punnishers if you will, the 4th Line was our VIOLENT line.
You tuned in to see it get chippy. Philly Fans, sad to say, looove a fight. When it gets chippy, say we play the Rangers at home, and we lead by 1. We pot an insurance goal. The roof comes off the building .25mm at least. Easily measured from the nosebleed seats with decent set of calipers and a modestly oversized kazoo.

Flyers fan here. So many injuries and key guys out. Ellis makes a big difference. Main issues are the coaching staff. We have too much talent to suck this much and score this little. Entire coaching staff needs to go. AV gets outcoached every night. Dump and chase sucks. Powerplay sucks. Doesn’t adjust. Idk what to do anymore really. Idc. Last season killed me so I went into this season with no expectations. But yeah coaching staff needs to be completely axed. More games pass by the more the season slips away.
Flyers don’t have any scary players? They have now Ristolainen who has been a good defenseman for flyers. 🤷🏻♂️ Do this so called experts know what they are talking about?

I think Steve pretty much nailed his point about AV: He's won a lot, but what good is there to actually say about his system? The answer to that – he had prime Roberto Luongo and Henrick Lundqvist to cover up his deeply flawed system that he refuses to make any adjustments to. And Hart's a fantastic goalie, but he's still just 23 and an unfinished product as of yet. Not to mention when he took over the Flyers were a young team, and he's a coach notorious for not working well with young guys and pushing veterans – similar to Dave Hakstol during his time here and we all saw how that worked out. Then Fletcher made the offseason moves to suit AV's needs instead of forcing his head coach to make actual adjustments (look at how many players that were brought in have played with him before) and when it didn't work this is the result you get.

Morin, Hagg, Goulbourne, Sanheim, Aube Kubel, Friedman, Provorov, Konecny, Sandstrom, Tomek, Rubtsov, Laberge, Hart, Twarynski, Patrick, Frost, Ratcliffe, Ustimenko are the Flyers 1st through 3rd Round picks from 2013 to 2017. You just don’t become Cup Contenders when you cannot draft enough studs in the earlier rounds. Too many busts, too many underachievers in that list.
Guys, the only place in the world that produces toughness is the Dub, where kids grow up in blue collar small town rural environments and hockey is tough. European hockey has always been soft. The US has usually been pretty soft, especially with how soft USA Hockey/NCAA is. And most of Canada is soft now. Hockey is increasingly rich suburban kid style in North America where skill is emphasized and no one plays tough. It’ll be close to impossible for the Flyers to ever have an insanely tough physical team ever again.
They hired the old MN Wild GM and now hired the old MN Wild head coach. The MN wild of that era was always scratching their way into the wild card slot. Chuck Fletcher is a trash GM who only knows how to hire talent but has no idea how to hire a roster that works with each other. As a wild fan I feel so bad watching Fletcher do the same losing crap in a new city.
