  1. Honestly, being a Flames fan this off-season, the first bit was awful, with losing Gaudreau. Now, it looks better, with the addition of Huberdeau and Weegar. I think we may have the pieces to still make the playoffs

  2. I'm sorry but is there a picture of Tkachuk where his mouthguard isn't uselessly sticking out of his mouth? I swear it's on his driver's license.

  3. As a Flames fan I’m still shocked, sad, angry generally confused what’s going on?!? Is this reality? Am I gunna wake up from a coma at some point?? Aaahhhh

  4. Canadian teams always implode after a "run" in the playoffs. Well, except the Oilers, which is surprising. As a Flames fan, I wish they had more foresight and patience. Like, they didn't know Johnny Tkachuk weren't "Real Flames"?

  5. Flames were a strong team last year, but Edmonton gave them a solid beating in the playoffs. The Battle of Alberta has left fresh wounds

  6. Gadreau and Tkachuk are both American born players. They wanted to play in America naturally.

Not that Calgary is a bad city; aside from the stadium issue, is a rather nice place to live. Weather is certainly better then Edmonton.

At least Tkachuk forced the issue as opposed to waiting until he became an unrestricted free agent like Gadreau and walked for nothing.

But yeah Canadian teams will always face an issue with recruitment unless they have some talented players like McDavid and Draisaitl among others to play with.

Tax rates, weather, and the issues with travel are the most notable especially when facing cities like New York or areas like California and Florida, or even places like Arizona or Carolina which have better climate and less issues with traveling. The higher tax rate in Canada that is used to fund its Healthcare is kinda pointless to an athlete that has his Healthcare covered by the team he's playing for.

Anyways, thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.
