You almost never see deals like this. I have no idea why Sammy signed it because I’m pretty confident that he’ll be an absolute steal by the end of it, but I’m all juiced up right now.

Wow. Lot of upside on this deal, but it’s a little crazy to see this deal after 54 total NHL games. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing, I think we all see Samuelsson as a fixture in our top 4 for years, but you just don’t see anyone give term with so small a sample size
I would think that in a couple years a 4.25 cap hit is a pretty good deal for a solid shutdown defenseman, but with limited scoring potential its hard to see how much higher of a salary he’d demand in a year or 2
Maybe the thing here is the cap spike is coming next summer and Adams is betting on getting as many deals in before that?
