Trading Zibanejad is a non-starter for the Rangers, and trading PLD in a deal that doesn't involve Zibanejad is a non-starter for me.
I really don't even understand why the Rangers would give up a bunch of assets to get a 2nd line center when they could just sign their own UFAs.
Can we PLEASE attach Wheeler to any trade with NY? That alone would be worth it.

I would do a trade a trade with the Rangers that sent Dubois and a 2nd in exchange for Kakko and Lafreniere.
Both guys have a lot of upside and would mix really well with the crop of young talent the Jets have, like Perfetti, Barron, Svechnikov, Appleton and they'd really fill out our middle 6 beautifully.
Plus I don't think the Rangers are great at developing young talent , most of their top guys they didn't draft, Zibinejad, Panarin, Copp, Trouba all came from other teams.
The Jets however, have been good with developing young players.
It would be unlikely but funny if the Rangers resigned Copp and he ended up being part of the package coming back to the Jets with the Rangers retaining some salary. This is more of a joke that a real expectation or belief

I'm pretty much over the entire idea of trading for "futures." The reality is, if you're always chasing the future players, you'll never have your "now" moment. The Jets need to stop worrying about "down the road" and actually keep these players through their contracts. If you lose the player(s) to free agency, so be it! That frees up cap space to bring in other free agents. Stop thinking nobody will sign in Winnipeg. With a hard cap, there are simply too many elite players seeking large contracts for the "preferred teams" to get everyone. If Winnipeg is offering a player 6 years, $7 mil. a season, versus another team offering 5 years at $5.5 mil, I'm pretty sure said player can look past the "preferred city" and choose the much richer contract. We don't want to become Buffalo and Detroit, constantly trading for the "future."
Schneider , Kappo , Laffy are all untouchable PLD is a salary dump he hasn’t proven anything our offer is Chytil Nameth and Plus two seconds that translate to a first if they win the cup
