Fleury fuckin sucks. They got rid of two wrong players to get and keep him

  2. MistahFinch

    MATT BOLDY

That is all. See you Saturday. Sleep well Europe bros

  3. TheSkeletones

The fucking Coyotes gave up fewer goals than we did.

  4. stumpybubba

    #🥀

Don’t wanna be doom already, but uffda, Flower.

  5. DaRealHankHill

    Game 1 observations.

    Fleury: 🧀

Skaters: trash tonight, except for Boldy (he made Fiala look better than he is)

Only 1 game, so we’ll see what happens in the next few, but Rossi should not be kept up here if he’s going to get 10 minutes a game. It’s counterintuitive to everything Billy G has said the past 2 years.

  6. triumphantV

Well that was less then stellar

  7. jonn_jonzz

The real losers of this game were all of us that had to watch the awful animated ads on the boards.

  8. BradLeeeeeee

Who the hell are we anyway? What’s our identity? I miss Greenway. He’ll be back soon. Happy hockey’s back!

  9. Durge88

Well, that fucking sucked. Game 1/82 at the end of the night, but definitely not a good night.

Shake that dust off and fuck LA up on Saturday (pretty please)

  10. letoiledunordstars

well that was not the most fun i’ve ever had watching wild hockey but it was still fun! see yall saturday!

  11. HemoKhan

Obviously not an ideal start, but I’m not surprised to see them rusty out of the gate. There were some bright spots (in particular, loved Boldy’s goals) but it’s tough to feel good about this one. That said, I’m not scared.

  12. TheSkeletones

Getting really tired of the being the free space team against contenders year in and year out. At what point do we ever decide to play like every game matters instead of “well it’s juuuuuust one game”?

  13. R4ndyR4nderson

    Best case: 81-1
    Worst case: Connor Bedard

    It’s a win-win people relax.

  14. KikiStLouie

Bummer. But hey, it’s the first game. We’re gonna be great this year!

  15. paultheschmoop

As if the MAF trade didnt look bad enough at the end of last season lol

  16. chillinwithmoes

Fleury didn’t have much help on a few of those tonight but I am genuinely concerned about hitching our season on his play in net. Everyone else can be great but if we can’t rely on the tender we are fucked from the get-go.

  17. odin_the_wiggler

81 games left…hopefully this turd gets flushed directly to hell and the boys come back on fire.

  18. Champ24NN

Didn’t watch a lot of the game but Flower can’t have a 80 save percentage and expect to win many games.

  19. professor_parrot

Can we bully the team into firing the arena DJ? Same for the Timberwolves while we’re at it.

  20. JWilesParker

Flower bad, Boldy good. Also, the Rangers look legit this season.

  21. greasetrout

Can’t wait for the season opening game against the kings on Saturday!

  22. tyrshand90

I didn’t have to high expectations going in to this season. Boldy definitely looks like a guy who belongs out there. JEEK looks solid. The D pairings look right on paper but don’t pass the eye test. Brodin didn’t look as fluid as he normally does. MAF was garbage, looks rattled

  23. BradLeeeeeee

Penalty kill looked good. They talked about those short passes to get clears and it looked like it worked. Also we look way better on face offs. So those are some promising things. Rangers almost placed 2nd last post season, so it’s not like this was against a bad team. Wish the Wild would’ve gotten Gallant.

  24. JB_Smoove25

Yeah, the loss sucks but things to keep in mind:

    1. First meaningful game we’ve played since May, Rangers shook the rust off earlier this week.

    2. The Rangers went to the eastern conference finals last year and beat Tampa Bay two nights ago.

    3. Fluery is old, give him a chance to stretch out, he won’t be this bad moving forward.

    4. Outside of goaltending and net front defense, we looked solid tonight.

    5. Seriously, give the boys a chance to shake the rust off before hitting the panic button.

Now that’s out if the way, Boldy looks like he’s going to take another step or two this year. He didn’t hesitate when he needed to be quick but also showed patience and sweet hands on both goals.

##We are going to be fine.

  25. TheSkeletones

Wes saying we played an “absolutely outstanding” first period. Lmao

  26. Cd-Zara

Good news tho MAF didn’t get a single scuff on his gold pads

  27. moth_loops

gonna be a long, sad, season with fleury in net

  28. DirtzMaGertz

Fleury needs to make a save, but that was also an inexcusably bad performance in their own end of ice even from guys like Ek and Brodin.

  29. Still on course to go 97-1 and win the cup

  30. TheSkeletones

If I hear that Evason does the same shit as last year where he “lets the players sort it out”, I’m gonna be pissed. Professional players practice. If given the choice, they will not. Do your job Evason and make them fucking skate

  31. Honesty_From_A_POS

I watched this game and had zero emotion during it. I think I might have finally transcended beyond minnesota spots. I am free. At last.

  32. Goaltending made the difference. Again: I’m not a fan of advanced stats, but seeing a goalie with +1.46 GSAE and the other with -3.83 tells a story. On the bright side Boldy was good, JEEk was good, Kap was his usual self, the refs showed their usual blindness. Fleury was tragic, Goose was bad, Addison was nonexistent.

If we could regret one thing is how the boys managed the pp2. That was bad. A goal there could have meant a very different game.

Anyway, this is already in the rear view mirror, we shouldn’t worry too much and instead look ahead for the next game.

  33. stumpybubba

Holy shit, I’m so excited for my drive home with fan line. Call in you drunks. Call in.

JK. No fan line I guess. Even they don’t want to talk about this bum ass game.

  34. twintowntwin

Not a fun way to get reaquainted with Wild hockey. Shake it off.

  35. My friend and I decided that if they have the reverse season trajectory of the Twins we won’t be mad.

Flower gets one pass from me for this.

Section 204 was fun, game sucked, gg go next, fuck it

  36. mostdope92

I know Flower got hung out to dry a bit but wasn’t that part of the point in trading for him? To have a goalie who can bail himself out when the defense slips?

I mean I’m hoping it’s just rust but he hasn’t looked like anything special going back to last season.

  37. dayman763

Ok here we go. I’m not a doomer, I’ll try to be level-headed.

    – I’m concerned about our goalies, mostly Fleury. He is old as balls. He’s almost my age. Isn’t he almost the same age as Zach Parise and Joe Mauer? I’m not gonna fact check that. Also he has no rebound control, and he’s not a steady netminder. That being said, I’m excited to see what Gus can do, if Guerin or Evason ever give him a start.
    – PK and PP, hey we got a PP goal. I’m not worried about this stuff right now. BUT, we took WAY too many penalties. What the hell Hartman and co. Actually back to the PP, when we didn’t score 5v3 that basically cost us the game. We needed a goal to cut their lead to 3-2 I think.
    – Rossi, didn’t look great, but he only got 10 minutes, which is also concerning. But hey it’s only one game.
    – Forwards looked pretty good except Hartman’s penalties, I mean there were 1 or 2 other dumb penalties, so sorry for singling out Hartzy.
    – Defense, Brodin was minus 4. Wow. I’m not great at judging these blue liners. Goose was maybe bad. Dumba was awesome though. He led the team with 4 hits and he made some nice plays and he got an assist.

    Discuss.

Edit: I just want to add that our goalies were my absolute biggest concern before the season started. Maybe special teams after that, and losing Fiala obviously too. But JFC, Talbot and Kahk we’re better than Fleury and Gus, I’m pretty sure. And they mismanaged the fuck out of Talbot/Fleury in the playoffs last year. I’m very concerned about Fleury, but I’m curious how Gus will do, even though it will probably be limited action.

  38. _nordstar_

D needs work including forwards playing D….and Flower…

  39. HerbalAndy

Yeah Fluery does what Fluery does.. and that’s a lot of movement that usually results in highlight reel saves.. unfortunately we didn’t need that acrobatic movement from him for most of this game.. sucks to have this be our opener but I genuinely liked what I saw with our offense.

People who are freaking out need to shut the fuck up.. we were either going to win or lose.. we lost but I enjoyed that game for the most part.. there wasn’t a huge lack of effort from what I saw

  40. CMButterTortillas

Suck hard for Bedard – right on schedule.

  41. minnesotaguy1232

We are going to regret keeping MAF for Talbot and Kahkonen for a long time
