Sound check is back!!!
Sound check: Back in the Saddle ~ Aerosmith.
It was so much fun watching the boys get right back to it. They did not miss a single beat!

I had my bet on E.J to score first. My sone at least zoned in on bottom 6, he didn’t specify who though.

Shout out to Sherwood for scoring the first goal of the NHL season during the global series.

  2. That dang Newhook looking to pass instead of shoot was my only downside to this game. He won't get to 30 goals if he won't shoot the puck. Other than that I loved tonight. Just kidding I still love Newhook too.

  3. "They were playing with that same intensity, that same speed…" I agree completely. I'm so stoked the season is upon us.

  4. Loved how Lehki played last night and I hadn't really thought of that, but now that you mention it having Gabe on the second line may just be a great mix.

  5. Chris the Captain was in full GEAR!! OPENING ceremony HAD me all TEARY eyed especially when JACK came on the ICE too!! The guys definitely didn’t miss a BEAT but the PK does need some WORK.. SO GLAD WE’RE BACK!! KYLE are you gonna be OKAY tonight Seeing your EX KADRI lol 😂🤣 #GoAvsGo. Sound Check: The Boys Are Back In Town By Thin Lizzy

  6. I loved seeing JJ joining the boys. Also this sound check I've had picked out for months. In honor of banner night I'm going with "Hoist the Colours" by Voiceplay as we're hanging those colors high!

  7. I thought Newhook looked like he found a new gear. He was moving last night

  8. Rantanen is as good a passer as he is a shooter, and make no mistake, he's a terrific shot.

  9. Rangers got a good win vs TB. Toronto not so much
Incredible night for Avalanche fans. The rings are amazing. Go Avs Go

  10. I would like to see Bednar tweek the bottom six a little more to help them sync. We still could do better in being dominate in the faceoff! Still great to see it all last night!

  11. Outside of Nate, my favorite offseason signing was Lehky. It’s going to be a treat having him all season and although not flashy, he might be the guy that puts up Kadri numbers. Just always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

  12. Avs fan in Chicago, Chicago looked better than they have looked for years. Once they can get rid of Toews and Kane they might start to heal from years of mismanagement.

  13. Great job AVS and the Jack Johnson add was great. Great class as an organization. I am sure Kadri will get similar from the team shortly!

  14. I actually disagree, by our standards I thought we looked a little sluggish and the passes just weren't quite as crisp. It's terrifying that a 75 percent focused Avs team is probably a top 10 team lol

  15. Bringing Jack Johnson in like that was a touch of class. I got a little misty-eyed at that.

  16. Also my favorite player last night was Sedlak surprisingly. Still so so early but it wouldn't shock me if Sakic and Bednar have another successful reclamation project on their hands, it shocked me when you said he only played 10 minutes, he was so noticeable it felt way more than that

  17. Very emotional evening! Happy for Jack Johnson that he was there and, of course, included in the ceremony. Liked the first game, they need to be better tonight, and Rodrigues should do more than just collecting penalty minutes. Without Mrasek, this would have been much worse. Excited for this new season, operation 'Defend the Cup.'

  18. I disagree a little Kyle. I don't think they picked right back up where they left off. Yes, they were just as good schematically, however… they clearly had oiled up their wheels and were skating far better…

I'd toss Pennywise – So Far Away as a song for the night.

  19. Saw some great checks by Byram, and you could see the rust flake off of the team in real time. Lawdy this team is FAST. I gotta get back into watching-the-game-shape, lost sight of the puck a few times.

  20. Just some 2021-2022 stats, in case anyone is interested:
    Avs PP: 7th
    Avs PK: 15th
    Avs Face-off win %: 28th (Booo.)

  21. I don't understand the criticism Rantanen had in last playoffs. Early in his NHL career Rantanen was known as the classic pass first guy. Later seasons he scored more goals, but I felt like he tried to force it a bit. If he is naturally a playmaker, let him be the setup guy. There is no reason for him to score 50 goals. It is not like he is the only Avs player who can score. It can hurt the chemistry and make the line less productive. He is the type of player who makes everyone around him better.

  22. Beautiful moment raising the banner. What an extraordinary time to be an Avalanche fan. So glad hockey is back!

  23. Having Jack Johnson out there for the ceremony shows how close a team gets when they win the Cup. It was awesome.

MacK is ready to go and you know that he will never be satisfied. He's chasing Crosby which means MacK NEEDS at least 3 more Cup wins (1 more than Crosby).
Avs PP1 looks dominant. PP2 is iffy. PK looks rusty and out of sync.
    #LetsGoAvs #runitback

  24. Its fun watching their PP go to work again. The tears were about to come during Landy's lap with the cup.

  25. Omg, it was truly amazing to see the banner raising! Got both my lizards and my girlfriend and I all gathered round my phone to watch it. It gave me goosebumps and seeing how they let JJ join in for the photos was pure wholesome. I had a rough day but watching that made my heart smile, it was wonderful.
    As for the game…
I'm very impressed and excited to see what this new offense can do, the defense, as solid as ever so yay! Lenky giving Mikko a run for his money for the top goal scorer spot is very real I'm all for it. There's a little bet going round my work on who's scoring the most this season, my moneys still on Ranty but folks are dropping bills on Mac so itll be interesting to see what happens. I sympathize with the idea that Ranty had a "quite" post season but the 25 pts in 20 games tells me otherwise. Ya, 20 were assists but but still, he's helping out by dishing the biscuit more and I'm also all about it. I thought Gorgie looked fantastic as well! After a couple of the tough shots that he blocked, I said to myself "no way Kempy could have saved that…" so I'm also very excited to see him play more. But also am just excited at the chance of seeing Frankie tonight! Go Avs! Beautiful start to the season yall! Beat the flames!

  26. Is anybody else sad they played that garbage song during the banner raise instead of “We are the Champions” by Queen?

  27. Great night all around. Loved that Jack Johnson was able to be part of the banner raising. Looks like the teams been working on tip-in's. 4/5 goals came that way!! Very impressive to see a new look Power Play, keep those opponents on their toes. Still some room for improvement overall but a win's a win and the perfect way to start the year.

  28. Didn't even come close to crying when they won, my eyes were leaking last night.

  29. Please never put Girard and Byram on the PK together, like ever. That 2nd CHI goal was ugly positioning. And seriously they don't think Compher would be better on PP2? Really? Over "defensemen"? I'm not Compher stan but I think he'd be the better choice over 3 dmen who wish they were forwards.
