Damn…panthers struggled like hell against an old and injured caps team…dont forget panthers were trailing by multiple goals in game 3, 4 and 5 and win…i dont think they can do the same thing against the bolts
As a Bolt fan…thanks for the insight, coach. Tampa is out-matched (talent-wise), in this series. They just are. That said, I LOVE how the boys PROVED (yet again), that it's gonna take discipline to beat us. The Panties play a chaotic style of offense that can be mitigated by solid D and having the worlds best goaltender on your team. The Panthers need to just RELY on the fact that they have the talent to beat Tampa. They have to TRUST it. Much like TOR. The problem is the Bolts KNOW they do and have proven it. That's a confidence that FLA just doesn't have. If this goes to 7 (like I think it will), I TRUST Tampa to win. Even WITHOUT Pointer or Cernak. And there aren't many teams that could pull that off.
bolts are a chameleon team they can win any way you want them to. bolts have the better defense and the better goaltending. if they keep their structure and stay disciplined im sure they can get through this. even without point let alone if he comes back.
Lightning are a hard team to beat. It's unlikely you out coach them. And since they were swept by CBJ they don't have a quit switch. You can't beat them one game and demoralize them you have to play a full 60 minutes every game
Highly disappointed and disgusted panther fan. Jesus Christ, wtfh are Huberdeau and Barkov doing? Did Giroux even play tonight? WE'RE THE BETTER TEAM, DAMNIT. Why the fuck aren't our stars playing like it? Defense and Bob were solid, but our first and second lines looked like they didn't give a bloody fuck at all.
We should just decline all penalties given to us and keep playing 5 v 5. We're better at it than we are with the man up. We just coast around like idiots for two minutes, pass a couple hundred times, and then take telegraphed shots that are kindergarten material for Vasi. They play like that again on Thursday, I won't waste anymore time with this team until we get an actual coach who can adapt and can force our top players to fucking play like it. I almost hate our team after tonight. That was a disgraceful lack of effort.
Hey Great analysis as usual coach. Is it possible to explain why so many professional players dive down and slide on the ice to cover the attacking player if it is not optimal in your view? Is it an instinctual flight or fight response for players to cover the ground or a specific tactic?

I don't have a good enough eye for the game to be a analyst, but I saw that one when we went for the shorty but ended up trapping 2 guys behind the play. I think we almost got it, but it was key to their power play goal there. And absolutely our pp is MIA, AWOL and it has to return, or, for sure tampa wins this series on the PP.

Tampa did a fantastic job slowing the game down and controlling pace and not turning the puck over.
Lightning setting the pace won the game…..and Vasy making a few insane saves and it's a win.
Tampa flipped home ice with that win. They only have to win their hoke games and they win series.

Coach, you are so spot on with your preview of the TBL-FLA series and your post game analysis of game 1! As I watched the game progressed to the final horn, I turned to my wife and said, " Hot Garbage was absolutely right about this series."
I wasn't shocked the Bolts picked up the defense and goaltending late in the Leafs series, but I didn't really expect it in a game 1. That said, the Panthers just looked like their heads weren't fully in it. Didn't see that last year. Also, there's no way Ekblad is near 100%, he was getting torched at times. Panthers better figure out some adjustments or this may be a surprisingly short series.

I disagree, if Florida loses game 2 this series is over. How do you expect to beat a team that is 17-0 after a loss 4 out of the remaining 5 games? It's a must win.

Peter Laviolette’s strategy to slow down the Cats was sound, but he didn’t have the team to execute that plan. Watching the Bolts do the same thing as the Caps we’re (sort of) doing should be very concerning for the Panthers.
Also, it’s refreshing to hear thoughtful analysis instead of just blaming the refs.

Going to give your advice you mentioned in avalanche video to my 12 year old daughter playing lacrosse. Feet first then brain then hands if got it right…. Her weakness is speed and moving her feet quickly… feel lucky have found this channel… am a 51 year old guy who has followed sports since young and do have a good knowledge and understanding of sports… truly felt learned something today from both of your videos that watched… thank you again..
Florida arguably is the most talented team in the league. They just seem to lack the toughness to beat Tampa Bay.

The first round series against the Capitals changed there Defense and neutral zone play.
Same for the Lightning They played Against The Maple Leafs Top tier Fast Breaks odd man rushes and Stretch Passes.
The pace & Quick Ups the Leafs had will imprint Hypervigilance into the Lightning Defensive Core and Special Teams.
Not so Much for Florida!! The Capitals play style mirrored That of the panthers.
