This is back on again?! WOOHOO!! I've been going through Kyper and Bourne withdraw the past few months.
I've got the Ovy scroring first tonight – Caps winning the first period – Leafs winning the game – Matthews the last to score.
Regarding last night's Leafs game, I'll provide one of my favourite quotes: "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard". This is why they often lose to teams lower in the standings. They get outworked too often. MTL wanted to win that game. TOR didn't seem interested. That's a problem.

Team is built wrong, most of the money goes to Nylander, Mariner and Matthews who are all talented but spoiled players who got paid before they were forced to play the right way. Their bad habits have been set in stone ever since. They don't have enough cap space or a good enough GM to build around them and make up for their lack of toughness and brains.
Should have fired Keefe and brought in a Torts type coach. As a cap strapped team whose stars play the wrong way, coaching is the only hope.

In the end, this is the 1st game, people are allowed to be rusty even after a long pre-season.
It's just, oilers superstars get it done, leafs don't.

What is wrong with you people??!! As a FAN you want to see the players make more money!!!???…….12 Million isn't enough??? With the way these contracts eat up cap space and handcuff teams??!! Oh, and before anyone starts the NHL without a salary cap was UNWATCHABLE!! It SUCKED!!…..Guess what? 12 million dollars is ENOUGH for playing a game the rest of us play for FREE!…….And if they want to make more money? INCREASE NHL REVENUES!!! Guess what else? NHL players make a HIGHER % of revenues than the NBA, NFL and MLB…..but the revenues aren't even CLOSE!…..And these guys want comparable salaries? How F%$king stupid can you be? YOU DON'T BRING IN THE KIND OF MONEY THOSE OTHER SPORTS DO!…..I'm ready for ANOTHER lock-out. Reduce salaries to %33.3 of total revenue. Anyone of these dummies who don't even have high school diplomas can go work at McDonald's if they don't like escrow. Make the MAXIMUM possible salary be 8 million. If you don't like it? You are not OWED a job in Hockey. GO PLAY IN RUSSIA!! Seriously, fire the entire union, start over with entirely new players! The NHL has these idiotic problems because they have NEVER taken CONTROL of their business, and dictated to thier employees they way things are going to work so that the NHL stays profitable, and ALL players throughout the line up can make a living. They have allowed greedy parents, agents and players who grew up thinking the hockey business OWED them, to control their business. CHANGE THE BUSINESS! Have downside guarantee contracts, where players make a minimum amount, but to get the full amount they have to perform to expectations. Raise the draft age to 19, and make one year in the AHL MANDATORY. That move alone would increase the health of the hockey business at both the junior and minor league levels. No more 4 year opt out for NCAA draft picks, make collage players HAVE to play for the team that drafts them. Mandatory rookie salary cap, AND mandatory bridge deals! You only get to make the big money in the NHL if you have served that league and helped to build the hockey business for several YEARS! No more children becoming multi-millionaires. Make them EARN it and respect the veterans in the league. Almost all of the NHL's problems are self-inflicted. They are a league run by dummies who don't have the balls to take charge of their company.
