I’ve been keeping an eye on Monahan since the start of the season. He is a great player. Strong on faceoffs (which has bEen lacking to the team since Danault left) and he creates stuff offensively. I hope he will stay healthy for the full season.
I know a first sounds like a lot, but Calgary will be competitive for at least the next 4 seasons, so most likely 24 + overall selection, which is not bad….but not like selecting top 10.

As a Flames fan… Monahan has always been my favorite player ever since he was drafted. I'm happy he has been finding success again with the Habs.
Love the guy, but he may be worth gold, especially if we do better than expected and end up with an 8th to sixteenth pic we can trade up with him and one of our full cupboard pantry D man to a top five
Montreal definitely got a good deal. But from the Flames perspective, I think they had to make the move to get Kadri. I guess the question is : Is Kadri worth a late 1st rounder + Monahan

Monahan needed to go. Nice guy but Flames could never rely on him even when he was uninjured.
I feel like the trade was a win for all three parties involved. Monahan gets a second chance, Montreal gets a first and the Flames get to revamp their core and pick up Kadri
