  1. As a Sharks fan I have very mixed thoughts on this team.

    The Positives

#1. They have scored the 1st goal in 4 out of 5 games and lost all 5 which I think very impressive and sad at the same time. It is still a positive.

#2. The team has 4 players who could be brought up that one of them could really help the team right now.

Ryan Merkley, Thomas Bordeleau, Jasper Weatherby and William Eklund

I obviously do not know the situation with all 4 but I do not see a major downside to try at this point.

#3. JAMES REIMER has played decently including in this game.

The first goal the Islanders got lucky. The second goal I think it was lucky and the sharks should have challenged it since the Islanders player did a slight kicking motion.

The last 2 goals Remier should have saved them but giving up only 2 legit goals in 41 shots I will take that.

#4. EVGENY SVECHNIKOV has been a great cheap contract so far.

#5.The Sharks have 23 players on the reserve list who are not under contract with the Sharks including the 1st round pick but they all can only sign with the Sharks for the NHL and the best 3 of them could obviously help the team right now if the team is going to lose anyway. A rebuilding team or a team wanting to win now could benefit from that.

    The Negatives

#1. That Doug Wilson or whoever gave Tomas Hertl that contract really hurt the Sharks.

The team was already bad and that cap room could be used in cap dump trades. You could get 2 2nd rounders a year for that 8+ million. MTL got a 1st round pick trading 6.2 mill in cap to the Flames. It is so much easier rebuilding doing cap dump trades.

I think it would be a miracle for Hertl to be a point a game player on the Sharks. If he was on a better team maybe he can but that contract is insane.

I do not think he is bad it is just he is not worth 8+ mill when the team could use that cap to rebuild.

#2. The Sharks not trading Timo Meier at last years trade deadline

I love Timo but he will want a big raise and the team is not good enough to give it to him. The Sharks could have gotten a lot for him at the deadline and intentionally did not do it. I do not see the logic but I love Timo.

#3. That the team is stuck between doing a full rebuild and trying to be a competitive right now and failing at both.

If the Sharks want to be a bottom 5 team and do a full rebuild I am 100% cool with it. The Sharks have a lot of cap problems from Doug Wilson. The team has to pay cap to Martin Jones for over 4 and a half more seasons.

If the Sharks want to try to win now it is obvious the team should try to bring up some of the depth the team already has. It is not like everyone on the current roster belongs.

#4. Hertl and Meier only have 1 point each in 5 games

#5. The Sharks defense just looks AHL level way too much

If it is the players or it is the coaching IDK but someone needs to fix it unless the team wants to tank.

Thanks for reading and I am a real Sharks fan and I will actually win a little over $17,000 if the Sharks win the division

It was a free bet and I did it just to make the season more interesting for myself. I did not think they would make the playoffs when I did it but I just wanted to do it. If I had my pick the Sharks will either win the division or be a bottom 5 team in the whole NHL so they can rebuild.

  2. Might as well give Bedard his ELC right now. This is the worst team in franchise history. The expansion team didnt even go 0-5. Honestly that 2nd Islanders goal could've been challenged, the fact that they didnt goes to show that the sharks are tanking.

  3. Who is gonna defend EK65 cause I sure as hell won’t…..his lack of effort is toxic and degrading for an already struggling team

  4. Sharks looking to win that Bedard sweepstakes.

And Isles announcers wondering whether the goalie should be pulled with 2.6 seconds left in the first period shows how much confidence they have in the Islanders. 😂
