Okay, I’m not saying that takes away a lot of the season pain so far… but that one moment just changed the narrative of how this game is looked at tomorrow entirely.
I mean literally the way Matthews beautifully set that up to Robertson specifically. I think that made this look even better than if it was just a fluky goal by the 4th line or something.

Samsonov has been solid! Mathews offensively wasn’t great but that was a sweet pass on the winner. Don’t like to see him block shots but definitely appreciate it. Robertson looks faster, more comfortable, and oh boy the shot!
Imagine Campbell or Andersen taking that slew foot at the end there… they’d be out for at least a month
Just watching the post game, did the refs actually call a penalty against a player doing something to Matthews!!! They get the 3rd star in my books!

Oh my god, there’s so many things to say about this game. The first period was a bit sleepy but after that… Wow. I enjoyed this game a lot. Matthews sacrificed his body over and over, Samsonov is looking so calm and solid in net, Kerfoot is such a stud and the sentence « Matthews to Robertson » turns out to be music in my ears! Robertson really earned that OT goal, what a night he’s had.
That felt a lot like the Chicago OT win early last year that flipped the script on the slow start, great win by Nicky and the boys !!

We started a bit slow like last year, and now I want to see us go on a ridiculous run like last year.
Great fucking game by Samsonov. Finally some stability in net. And finally a clutch win, all at the hands of Robertson. Still not happy with how our « elite » forwards left it up to Nicky Bobby to win for them but hey, the boys will get their act together. For now, Leafs win anyway.
Fingers crossed for gio as well! Glad we got the win, but will be pissed if the price was his health!
